Aisha Ray, Ph.D. Erikson Institute graduate, has taught at the institute for 17 years. She is senior vice president for academic affairs and dean of faculty. Some of her areas of expertise include early childhood professional preparation and training for equity; child and family development in urban communities; fathers and families; and early childhood services to immigrant children and families. She has a B.A. in history, Grinnell College, M.Ed. in early childhood education, Erickson Institute-Loyola University Chicago, and M.A., PhD. in developmental psychology, University of Michigan. Aisha related experiences include research scientist, University of Chicago. and faculty member, DePaul University School of Education. She also serves with the Annie E. Casey Foundation. Child Trends Incorporated, Illinois Fatherhood Initiative, Twenty-first Century Foundation, National Center for Strategic Nonprofit Planning and Community Leadership, and the National Professional Development Center on Inclusion, University of North Carolina.

John Dewey’s quote to me is saying that no matter what life throws at you, you are the only one who determines your future goals in life. Whereas Gardner’s quote is expressing that all children can be smart in learning different techniques through many intelligences in the world.
